Adventure?
Jun 5th, 2007 by Chris
I constantly tell people that when you surrender to God, it is the beginning of a great adventure. But how come most of the time we don’t feel like we are in an adventure? One of the reasons could be that it is too easy to forget what God has done in our lives. Am I truly speaking from experience? Or am I just saying it because I wish for adventure?
I sat down last night to create a list of ‘adventurous activities’ that’s God has led me through. It turns out I am on an adventure, including some things that remind me of some events in Acts!
I’m not bragging about myself, the following list is a boasting of what God has done in my life. “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” 2 Cor 10:17 God has done so much for me, but for this list I chose to focus on the events that seemed more ‘adventurous’.
I have:
- Been sent halfway around the world
- Led others to Christ
- Seen specific prayers answered immediately
- Have always had my needs provided for, sometimes last minute
- Been undercover in a communist country
- Been questioned by government officials and undercover spies
- Heard God audibly speak to me once (only one word, but it was enough to start a whole chain of events)
- Seen visions of the future
- Prayed for a physical healing with immediate visible results
- Encountered and battled demons
What about you, what adventures has God brought you through? Start a list, and keeping adding it to it over the next few days as things come to mind. Looking at it all in one place may surprise you.
